Post 1 I believe that the Bible supports human rights from the Old Testament, the way Jesus lived his life, and ultimately his sacrifice on the cross. The word of God is clear that human rights is supported because the Lord sees humanity in his image, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (New International Version, 1978/2011, Genesis 1:27). God sees us all in his image and this illustrates that our rights come from God and not from man. We are naturally valuable and loved from birth. The rights we have don’t come from people or a government but from God. Jesus embodies the importance of justice and compassion for all people no matter their social status. He demonstrated love and forgiveness for all even those who persecuted him, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (New International Version, 1978/2011, Romans 5:8). The Lord dying on the cross confirms how much dignity and worth he has for each person. The gift of salvation no matter how sinful or fallen a person may be is always there if they repent and believe that Jesus died for their sins, offering enteral life to be with him in heaven forever. The inherent rights that humans have from the love that God has for us is evident throughout scripture and ultimately through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

Post 2 Regardless of race, cultural background, ethnicity, sexuality, or gender. Social workers have values, and ethics to uphold. For example, as stated in the NASW Code of Ethics, “Social workers agree on the need for compassion, and understanding when serving clients, and adhere to the ethical principles such as service, justice, primacy of the helping relationship, competence, and integrity” (NASW, 2017). Social workers should always provide positive regard to their clients regardless of their whole person, and their personal entirety. Jesus Christ is the embodiment of compassion, and love. Jesus taught about the importance of love for people as found in the book of  Matthew. “Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40). I believe that the bible attributes to human rights. This biblical quote contours to the rights of human to be loved. With love towards humans it brings them empowerment, and confidence. When our founding fathers founded America they even built human rights on the foundation of God’s word. As stated in the preamble of the Declaration of Independence (1776), “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights” (U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, 2020). This statement in the Declaration of Independence contours to also that man is created in the image of God. For example, “Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground” (Genesis 1:26).
