For this assignment, you will create a bar chart, a pareto chart, a dot plot, and a form for survey question responses using Google Form. Each task is worth 10 points. See the attached Excel document at the bottom of this assignment for the data sets.
Task 1: Bar charts can be used to visualize categorical variables by showing a bar for each observed category. The height of the bar represents the frequency or relative frequency of that category. Use the provided data and the videos and instructions provided in the course to create a bar chart in Excel. Copy the chart into your Word document and then type “Source: American Veterinary Medical Association” under the graph.
Task 2: Pareto charts are bar charts with the bars sorted in descending order. The height of the bar represents the frequency or relative frequency of that category. Use the spreadsheet from Task 1 and the videos and instructions provided in the course to create a Pareto chart in Excel. Paste your Pareto chart in your Word document and then type “Source: American Veterinary Medical Association” under the graph.
Task 3: A dotplot can be used to visualize numerical data. They are used to get a sense of frequency. Use StatCrunch and the provided data to create the dotplot. Paste the dotplot in your Word document and then type “Exam Scores From an Introductory Statistics Course (Source: Not Specified)” under the graph.
Follow this StatCrunch video tutorial for guidance on creating the dotplot, if needed.
Task 4: Surveys are created to gather data. To efficiently collect data, the questions can be into a program and the survey link can be shared for participants to type in their answers. Create a survey with the following questions using Google Forms:
What is your current age?
What is your gender?Female
Male
Prefer not to answer
What town do you live in?
Watch this video for assistance in creating a survey with Google Forms. Share the link to your completed form in your Word document. Video Link:
Task 5: Make a graph that best visualizes the provided dataset. Be sure to include details such as a title, data labels (if applicable), x-axis and y-axis label (if applicable), legend (if applicable), and source.
